biography

Based in Helsinki, Joakim Berghäll (b. 1980) is a composer/musician allergic to all sorts of boundaries. Berghäll's main instrument is the saxophone, as in tenor, baritone, alto and soprano, but he is also very fluent with percussion, cello, bass and guitar as well. As a composer Berghäll has mainly written music for small jazz ensembles, but also for large orchestras and chamber ensembles. Recently Berghäll has been performing with groups such as Tsuumi Sound System, Auteur Jazz, Astro Can Caravan, Saarikorpi Brom, Fredator and The Kling.
