Keyboard player and composer Aapo Heinonen (b. 1985) belongs to the group of promising young talents on Finnish jazz scene. Heinonen has worked all-around on the different sectors of popular music as musician, teacher, composer, arranger and leader. He has won several prizes, for example the Pori Jazz grant in 2002, Pop/Jazz Conservatory scolarship in 2006, the grant of Idman Foundation in 2007 and the third prize in Young Nordic Jazz Comets competition with a band called Vilunki.

Recently Heinonen has performed a lot with his own quartet, Aapo Heinonen Quartet, in Finland and Europe. The music of AHQ could be described as melodic big band music composed to a small band that include lots of influences from modal jazz, latino music, fusion, folk music and even cinematic music. The debyt album of the band "A Daydream Between Nightmares" was published in March 2010 and it has got a really good reception among the press and audience of jazz field. The band has performed for example in Switzerland at the Langnau Jazz Nights Event, at Pori Jazz Festival and at many jazz clubs in Finland.

Besides Aapo Heinonen Quartet Heinonen works also actively with bands like Luoma and Elastic Jazz Group. For Elastic Jazz Group Heinonen has also arranged some songs of him own. In addition to performing with bands, Heinonen prepares his degree on music pedagogy at Metropolia University of applied sciences.
