Biography

Composer Jussi Lampela and trumpet player Jukka Eskola have teamed up, alongside Lampela’s nonet featuring many of the hard-hitters in the Finnish scene. The result is here, “Lampela X Eskola”, an album of brilliant jazz in the vein of the “cool jazz” era of the late 1940’s/early 1950’s. Tradition is the base, but Lampela’s sharp songwriting and the remarkable soloistic skills of the band make this one cook like it’s 2010.
