Biography

"Iris in Trance" is an album by Kalle Kalima Pentasonic from 2009.

The idea of the album came from Jean Szymczak after a studio session for a radio play in December 2005. I worked on the material for about one and a half years doing demos and getting feedback from Jean every now and then. When I was ready we decided to record live in the old chamber music hall of DDR Radio Center in Berlin.

The material was recorded live without overdubs. One guitar through effects, preparations and two samplers into five different amps simultaneusly. A few prepared samples were used. Some songs were shortened afterwards. We recorded the main tracks in three days in July 2007 and two shorter ones in July 2008.

The five-dimensional aspect of the music can be experienced on the Iris in Trance DVD which is mixed using Surround system. The DVD came out in Spring 2009.
