Biography

The three-piece I-XXX is the debut album of Mikko Innanen Autonomus.

Saxophonist Mikko Innanen's Autonomus is equal parts a four-piece band, a series of compositions and a musical philosophy.

The quartet, made up of top Nordic players, explores and interprets Innanen's compositions in a self-directed way as their name suggests at every performance. Longtime friends Peter Bruun, Antti Lötjönen and Håvard Wiik play alongside Innanen.

Innanen composed 40 pieces in the ensemble's repertoire in the winter of 2018–19. The compositions are diary-like, and their guiding thesis was to accept musical ideas as they come and try to write them down without thinking too much or evaluating them.
