Biography
Saxophonist and woodwind specialist Max Zenger Globus's Flores album takes its listeners on an exciting journey of musical experience.
The creation of Flores is connected to an island of the same name in Indonesia and the uniqueness of our planet. The compositions of the second album have influences from Duke Ellington and the contemporary modern jazz as well as literature, with the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy playing a big role. The album's six exciting compositions seamlessly combine elements of acoustic jazz and futuristic moods.
"My songs have been finished down to the last detail and precisely tailored to the players in question and give the opportunity to take the music in directions chosen by each soloist. Among other things, the trombonist Kasperi Sarikoski in Flores interprets the composition both as a whole as well as in the details incredibly and surprises again and again in the discovery of new improvisational paths," Max Zenger gushes.
Having made a splash with their first album Globus (2019, Flame Jazz Records) and their energetic live performances, the characteristic sounds of the band include futuristic, rich soundscapes and compositions inspired by the uniqueness of nature. In addition to saxophonist Max Zenger, the band includes Kasperi Sarikoski, pianist Mikael Myrskog, bassist Kaisa Mäensivu and drummer Anssi Tirkkonen.
