Biography

The Helsinki-based fusion jazz band Dynamic Dynamic's Bloom is a convincing debut.

The songs on the album are composed by the band's guitarist Jaakko Penttilä and arranged by the band, and strongly represent the Nordic instrumental music of the new wave. The other players in the line-up are Jere Mäntykangas (guitar), Samu Jaantila (bass) and Tuomas Karlsson (drums).

In addition to electronic jazz fusion, the band's music is influenced by contemporary rock and r'n'b. Built on the joint play of two guitars and the rhythm section, the ensemble relies on strong melodic expression and an open sound landscape, with room for surprises.

The debut album, mixed by Pekka Posio, was recorded in November 2020. According to the band, Pekka and the band had a clear common goal regarding the sound of the album: tight and precise joint playing with improvisation as a coherent whole.

The singles released from the album gathered praise and listeners on Spotify and also got the attention of playlist curators (e.g. Jazzia Suomesta and Fresh Finds Jazz).
