Long-term work yields results

For the remainder of the year, Jazz Finland International follows the bands and delegates aiming to the international markets. On this week’s article the Tampere-based record label Eclipse Music reflects the relation between conferences, club activity and record sales.

Going with the flow - experiences and contacts in focus

Life after Jazzahead – is there any? For the remainder of the year, Jazz Finland International follows the bands and delegates aiming to the international markets. The series starts off with the instrumental trio VIRTA, who performed at Jazzahead in 2017, both as part of Finnish Night showcases and the Clubnight at Papp. This year the band took the stage as part of the Clubnight programme.

Pump up the jam!

The third week of April sees the annual Jazzahead! trade fair take over the city of Bremen. In addition to hanging out at the Messehall, the famous Town Musicians may be spotted playing alongside some cool Finnish cats at the Friday night afterparty jam.

Stepping ahead, together

The first of the two Finnish groups to appear at this year’s Jazzahead showcase is Joonas Haavisto Trio who have been playing together for more than ten years. While the instrumentation may be conventional, their approach is original and confident and leans on a no-nonsense take on what may perhaps be called ‘Scandinavian freshness’. Seamless communication between the band members is an indispensable part of their playing philosophy.

Jazzahead! brings Finnish jazz to European limelight

Once in a year Bremen turns into an international meeting point for the international jazz scene. This year’s Jazzahead! Trade Fair is held from 19th to 22nd of April. Music Finland and Jazz Finland coordinate the Finnish stand and events arranged at the festival. Stay tuned of the Finnjazz action on Jazz Finland website!

Flame Jazz and We Jazz into the Nordic puls Program

It will also seek to bring musical experiences of high artistic quality to a wider Nordic public. Altogether 46 companies and projects were selected in the program. Jazz is represented in Finland by the Turku-based event production association Flame Jazz and Helsinki-based festival and promotion company We Jazz.
