American singer and bassist Janet Evra will arrive in Finland as the main performer of Linnajazz in Hämeenlinna in August. In addition to Linnajazz, Evra will give concerts at Sawohouse in Kuopio and Kouta-Sali in Kajaani.
Janet Evra, originally from Gloucester, England, is a singer, bassist, composer and songwriter currently living in St. Louis, USA. In her music, she mixes traditional bossa nova, samba and Latin jazz with modern influences with an indie twist, thus producing fresh, enticing and original music. Evra sings in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. Her debut album Ask Her to Dance (2018) was praised by critics, and the All About Jazz magazine's review summed it up: "Every player is top notch and Evra’s every song phrase seems to be accentuated by a smile."
The Finnish tour ensemble of Janet Evra Quartet features Will Buchanan (USA) on guitar, Tomi Kämäräinen on drums and Tuomo Uusitalo on piano.
