The Finnish-Estonian jazz co-operation turns 10 next year

The core of the co-operation between the Finnish and Estonian jazz organisations has been Heimojazz band exchange. The last of the Heimojazz concerts this year is Bad Habits Trio at Restaurant Juttutupa's Club Rytmihäiriö on Wednesday, December 19. In 2019 the co-operation expands to a FinEst Jazz Rally competition for young jazz ensembles. The last day to submit applications to the contes is tomorrow, Saturday, December 15.

Jussi Lehtonen Receives The Prestigious Yrjö Award

Jazz Finland organization awarded drummer Jussi Lehtonen with the Yrjö jazz prize on Friday 2 November at Tampere Jazz Happening. Given annually to a distinguished jazz artist, Yrjö is the most prestigious jazz award in Finland. This year the prize was an art piece entitled Ikirummutin by street artist Ines Sederholm. The Varjo-Yrjö award, granted by the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle, was given to producer Raisa Siivola for their work in promoting Finnish jazz.

Singer-composer Anni Elif on Jazz Finland tour in November

Vocalist, cellist, keyboardist and composer Anni Elif Egecioglu takes her Edith Södergran project on tour from 6 to 17 November. The nine-concert tour, produced by Jazz Finland, features music from Egecioglu’s solo debut “Edith”.
