Pekka Pylkkanen Nu Unit is a new ensemble lead by saxophonist Pekka Pylkkänen. The band first performed together only in January 2020, but the musicians have previously collaborated with each other in other projects. Pylkkänen has played together with the excellent pianist Roberto Tarenzi dozens of times in Italy. Bassist Viktor Nyberg is originally from Stockholm, but has made his career in Paris for the past almost ten years. Nyberg has become one of the most sought-after bass players in France and has played with both international stars as well as French ensembles. Anssi Tirkkonen is a renowned and agknowledged drummer among the Finnish jazz audience.

The ensemble toured in Asia in January-February 2020 and played concerts in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
