Jussi Fredriksson Trio, formed in 2013, released their debut album ? in 2014, which asked a lot of questions. In 2017 it was followed by more straightforward !, which was welcomed with great reviews. Recently the band released on a vinyl a compilation of two albums !+?, which sums up the trio’s sound refined over the years; their sound comes close both on record and on live. The trio has performed widely at festivals and clubs and captures the audience to join them on constantly renewing musical journey.
Fredriksson composed the material for the newest album after wandering around the street of Paris and the atmosphere of the city’s mysterious alleys and galleries is present on the album. The music bows to the minimalism of Thelonus Monk and Ahmad Jamal – although the sharp and rich harmonies hit hard. The trio takes the music from static themes to surprising twists. Trio’s sound is smooth and elastic rhythm work brings deep dimensions to their expression.
