Drummer Marko Timonen (b. 1966) has gathered a magnificent wealth of knowledge from a wide field of musical styles from jazz to folk and all the stops in between. Internationally Marko Timonen is probably best known for his work in the renowned folk/ethno team Värttinä, with which he has toured all over the globe from the USA and Canada to Australia, Japan and most of the European countries. Timonen has always been a vital part of many local jazz groups from The Poppoo and Pekka Luukka Presents to the Mika Mylläri Quintet and the Jukka Linkola Tentet. During the first half of the 90's Timonen's drive powered the UMO and the Espoo Big Band. Timonen's mastery over a huge number of different styles has also made him a most wanted sessionman. Nowadays Marko Timonen is a member of ZetaBoo, läpiMurto, Jouni Järvelä Group and Turgan Trio.
