Juho Kivivuori (b. 1983) is a jazzmusician originally from Värtsilä, North Karelia, who masters both electric and doublebass. He started his music studies with violin in the Conservatory of Middle Karelia when he was only 4-years-old but changed his main instrument electric bass 10 years later. After this Kivivuori has studied in the Conservatory of Joensuu (2002-2004), Stadia University of Applied Sciences (2004-2006) and since 2006 on the jazz department of Sibelius Academy where he is currently finishing his Master's degree. In 2009-2010 he studied in the University of Gothenburgh as an exchange student under Anders Jormin.
In recent years Kivivuori has become one of the most employed bass players on the Finnish jazzscene and he influences in several jazzbands, e.g. in Nassaun Fasaani, Ketola Rewired, Zander, D-Booster, Mirja Mäkelä Trio, Aleksi Ranta Group, Joonas Haavisto Quartet, Olli Hirvonen Trio, Visa Oscar Group and Martti Vesala Quintet. In addition, he has performed with i.a. Tim Hagans, Lars Jansson, Jukka Perko, Jukkis Uotila and UMO. In fall 2010 Kivivuori represented Finland in Belgium, in the finals of Hoeilaart Jazz Competition with Zander.
