Eclipse Music is releasing the debut album MEGETME from the Tuomas J. Trio on the 5th of October. The album features a special guest, Manuel Dunkel, one of the greatest tenor saxophonists in Finland.
Tuomas J. Trio was formed in 2012, when the ensemble played their first concerts in Helsinki. Tuomas J. Turunen has gathered a dream team to play his music; bassist Jori Huhtala and drummer Tuomas Timonen are bot one of the most sough-after musicians in the Finnish jazz scene. After a few quiet years, the band now returns with more energy than ever before with the guest star Manuel Dunkel in tenor saxophone. The new MEGETME album consists of original compositions written by Tuomas J. Turunen and it is a combination of traditional American jazz and Nordic sounds.
There is a great interaction between the musicians. The album leads the listener from one atmosphere and soundscape to another with a speed of a wind. The musicians work as a team but are also able to perform virtuosic solo parts with their instruments. The tranquility of a Finnish forest and the versatile energy of the city of New York are combined in the ensemble's music in a very original and touching way.
