Janne Was Here is a solo album by saxophonist-composer Janne Huttunen.
Huttunen describes the album as a long-time fulfilment to write music for a jazz group of his own. Due to his background as a pop songwriter, his jazz pieces have an original flavour, defying pigeonholing.
The seven tracks are all by the leader and his sources of inspiration come from all over: Capetown, snakes, basket ball... The title track, however, sums up his key aim: to leave his musical fingerprint on the scene, effortlessly and spontaneously. Indeed, the first take ended up on the disc.
