Biography
Dalindèo's fifth album Follow the Dark Money is a statement-making record.
Dalindèo, one of Finland's leading jazz ensembles, released their fifth album Follow the Dark Money in November 2020. With the release, Dalindèo made their views on global themes public to their audiences.
The band’s fifth full-length album followed in the footsteps of their Dark Money EP released in spring 2020. The EP's release tour was unfortunately interrupted as the corona pandemic stalled the world. The collection of eight compositions is the artistic reaction of band leader Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen to the state of the world, where the inequality of individuals and the number of international conflicts have become more and more critical. In addition to the dark and menacing shades hinted at by the EP, there are also more hopeful flashes of light in Follow the Dark Money.
"The Multifaith Prayer Room is inspired by the “spiritual rooms” found at major international airports and open to all religions. Parallel Realities reminds us that everyone has their own reality and that it is worth leaving your own bubble before you start criticizing others. The title of the album’s concluding piece, the fragile Lessons in Kindness refers to the extremely important capability for empathy and its lifelong learning process for everyone on a personal and global level,” Pöyhönen describes.
The Jazz-Emma award-winning Dalindèo is a six-piece band founded in 2004, known as one of the stylistic pioneers of Finnish jazz. The band's previous releases, led by jazz guitarist and composer Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen, are Open Scenes (2007) and Soundtrack for the Sound Eye (2010) released by Ricky-Tick Records, and Kallio (2013) and Slavic Souls (2016) released by Suomen Musiikki.
